Team Message of Support for Japan’s Rebirth

3.18.2011

Our hearts go out to the victims and their families of this devastating earthquake and tsunami. The events which have transpired since last week have been a great challenge for everyone here in Japan.

We’re all very concerned for the safety of the quake survivors in the northern region, and looking to make timely contributions for a speedy recovery.

For now, people all across Japan seem to be listening and catching information from TV, radio, web/twitter etc. while trying to figure out what can be done to help.

Along with making donations to charitable relief organizations, it seems that the best contribution our Rising Suns community can make to the relief effort right now is to encourage people’s hearts and minds through the game of basketball.

Under such conditions, we’ve decided to go forward (as planned) and participate in the Quai 54 World Championship basketball tournament in Paris, again this year.

With our annual recruitment process, we work to assemble various professional players from across the country (some in the most heavily hit areas) aiming to build the greatest team ever from Japan.

We strongly believe that the excitement and sensation caused by sport will generate a crucial momentum for all of us here to build upon, and create a renewed sense of hope— for the sake of Japan’s swift rebirth.

  • And most importantly, please support the relief efforts through the charities out there doing work, Red Cross, etc. NBA Cares is providing a donation service, which might be a good way for those in the basketball community. “Donations can be made in any amount via http://on.nba.com/NBACARES or give $10 by texting REDCROSS to 90999.” Also, some other donor links from Yahoo that will help make giving safer and easier for everyone around the world.
